Sacred Silence in Sufism and the Vedanta – Seyyed Hossein NASR & Swami ATMARUPANANDA

SACRED WISDOM: Pathways to Nonviolence – FESTIVAL of FAITHS 2016

A FIVE-DAY FESTIVAL of music, poetry, film, art and dialogue with internationally renowned spiritual leaders, thinkers and practitioners.

The 2016 Festival of Faiths will explore how different spiritual traditions, teachers and practitioners address violence, heal our wounds and teach active commitment to nurturing peace in ourselves and in the world.

“The peace produced by grace is a spiritual stability too deep for violence – it is unshakeable.”

Thomas Merton

Seyyed Hossein Nasr, one of the world’s leading experts on Islamic science and spirituality, and Swami Atmarupananda, renowned teacher of Hinduism, will talk about Compassion as being intrinsic to who we really are – the true Self, the “image of God” which is free of all alienation. And that is wisdom itself, love itself, discovered in inner silence – the still point that unites us to both God and the universe.

No salvation, save in the imitation of silence. But our loquacity is prenatal. A race of rhetoricians, of verbose spermatozoons, we are chemically linked to the Word.
