Abstract: The paper explores Albert Camus’ position on the existence of God. In Le Mythe de Sisyphe, Camus questions the classic opposition between reason and belief or illusion, and shows that beliefs are simply vital. Using the philosopher and the believer characters in Le Mythe de Sisyphe, the paper demonstrates that beliefs are never reasonless but rather, are means by which a life, confronted to absurdity, can still be lived.
