Deepak Chopra is a medical doctor with mystical leanings, who has built a highly successful second career as a purveyor of alternative remedies, and deepities that I would say—and here, I suppose I show my bias—impress those who think that if they can’t understand something it must be profoundly significant.
As part of his Channel 4 documentary Enemies of Reason, Richard Dawkins asked Deepak Chopra to explain his concept of “quantum healing”. It doesn’t take long until the guru confesses that “quantum”, here, is just a “metaphor”. One thing is certain though: Deepak is very well trained and knows how to defend himself against the critiques and accusations of charlatanism, mystification and deceit, of selling sheer self-help “mumbo-jumbo” without any scientific basis whatsoever.
