Since January, six Russian oligarchs have been reported to have died by suicide, while an alleged hiking accident killed another. Adding to the mystery is the association of the majority of the deceased with Russia’s energy sector. In March, President Putin lashed out at pro-West oligarchs, saying they “mentally exist there, and not here, with our people, with Russia.”
